Arkadiusz Gertych, Ph.D
Post Doctoral Research Associate

Background:

Arkadiusz Gertych is currently a Post Doctoral Associate at USC Department of Radiology. He joined Image Processing and Informatics Laboratory in September 2004. He received MS degree in 1995 from the Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland. In 1996 he started working for this University in Department of Biomedical Electronics as a research assistant. In 1996 he completed one month training at Imaging Informatics Lab of University of California, San Francisco and in 1999 three month training at IPI Lab in Children's Hospital Los Angeles as a research associate. In 2003 he received PhD degree in electrical engineering from the Silesian University of Technology, Poland and became an Assistant Professor at that University. Between 2003 and 2005 he mentored and supervised 10 M.S students. Currently he supervises 4 M.S students at Biomedical Engineering Department of Silesian University of Technology. His scientific interests include: computer-aided diagnosis, image analysis, biomedical signal and image processing, integration of medical systems. Besides 8 year academic experience in teaching he has practical skills in design, development and implementation of a computer aided diagnosis software for bone age assessment of children based on large scale clinical hand radiographs.
